Personal Description:

Although I didn't set the world afire as a journalist my industry experience helped me become a tertiary politics and journalism teacher. I've also tried teaching at secondary level but usually feel more comfortable working with degree level learners. Am still happy to help NCEA Level 2 or 3 media studies students as long as they realise I only have a general understanding of their curricula.

Tutoring Experience:

Part-time Communication Studies Lecturer and Tutor at Unitec for nearly five years. I helped teach everything from Level 4 general writing to Level 8 cultural studies - as well as plenty in between.

Tutoring Approach:

I won't always charge you $9/hour or in fact anything at all. This doesn't mean my advice has no value, just that it's up to you to decide exactly what it's worth.

I want to help those who need more than mere reassurance. If you're already a high-performing student then I mightn't be the best person to talk to. Not saying that chatting wouldn't be fun but I'm here to help those struggling to understand the finer points of their assignments - and who won't stop working their butts off until they do.

If you want to run a few ideas past someone, brainstorm the heck out of them and then write 'em up like a pro, I'm your man. If you feel something I said or did actually helped then shout me a coffee or whatever else you think is appropriate when you get your results.
