Personal Description:
- Currently studying a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery at the University of Auckland.
- Studied Cambridge English, Biology and Chemistry from year 10 to 13.
- Excelled in CIE's with an overall A grade.
Also on a more personal note, I am an aspiring psychiatrist hoping to specialise in children & adolescents or learning disabilities.
In my spare time I enjoy reading non-fiction texts about psychology and human biology. I am, of-course, avidly enthusiastic for linguistics and etymology!
Tutoring Experience:
- 60+ hours of formal experience, specialised in AS and A level English Language (9093) tutoring, both in-person and online.
- Previous informal experience with year 10 English (spelling & grammar) tutoring for a neurodivergent student with dyslexia.
- Previous informal experience with voluntary year 11 Biology tutoring.
Tutoring Approach:
- Typically lessons are 1 hour and can be in person or online.
- First sessions will involve getting to know you, your learning style, goals, strengths and weaknesses. You will also get to have a feel for my teaching style as we spend the latter half of the lesson learning.
- I mainly focus on an interactive, practical learning style. This includes working on past papers, worksheets and interactive discussion, where I gauge understanding by allowing you to explain the concepts back to me. I am flexible but is what I have found works for most of my students.
- I also aid in essay writing, long answer questions, short answer questions, MCQ skills, efficient note-taking, flashcard creation and mock exam marking.
- Lessons will be tailored to each student and a summary will be submitted after each lesson.
- Homework is often assigned dependant on personal preference.
