Personal Description:
Recently completed my doctoral degree in chemical sciences at the University of Auckland. Prior to this I did my MSc and BEng at NTU and NUS, respectively, in Singapore.
Tutoring Experience:
Experienced in teaching Chemistry at NCEA Level 2/3, Cambridge AS/A levels and IGCSE.
Tutoring Approach:
I believe in strong fundamental understanding of the concepts, an analytical and hands on approach to problem solving. Each student is unique and may/may not respond to a single approach of learning scientific concepts, therefore i am equipped with multiple rules of thumb and analogies to effectively strengthen basic understanding of scientific concepts.

From Emele (/5): Jamal is an excellent tutor because he explains the sub topics, of level 3 NCEA chemistry very well and throughly and at a pace where i am able to keep up and understand the topic. He explains the notes well and the information i need to know, especially the topic i struggle to do at school which is organic chemistry. He also answers all the questions i ask him during the tutoring sessions and also he gives me questions to complete at home so i can be consistent with the topic and so that i can ask him more questions if i do not know how to get the answer or why i got it wrong. He is an excellent tutor.
From Nita (/5): Jamal has been very patient and friendly. My son has only had one lesson with him so far for 2 hours but wants to stick with Jamal and no other Chemistry tutor. He knows what he is talking about and seems very know ledged in Chemistry. He also went the extra mile to email homework answers to my son when he did not have time to finish going through them in the lessons. He always double checks if in doubt to ensure he does not teach my son anything wrong. So far we are very pleased that we found him. We will add further feedback to let you know how the tuition with Jamal helped my son in his IGSCE Chemistry exams towards the end of the year. But he seems to genuinely care and so far we are very happy with Jamal.
