Personal Description:
Kia ora, I'm George. I love creating and sharing interesting mathematics, science, and coding puzzles with students. I believe late secondary/early tertiary level science and mathematics is extremely fun and something almost anyone can be good at given the right preparation.
I'm currently a masters student and researcher in pure mathematics at the university of Melbourne, but I did my bachelor's degree at the university of Canterbury, achieving many top awards. In high-school was excellence endorsed in NCEA level 3 when I was 15 and got two outstanding scholarship grades - Physics and Calculus.
Tutoring Experience:
2024 - University of Melbourne casual tutor in real analysis.
2023 - University of Melbourne casual tutor in discrete mathematics and the arts.
2021 - High-school tutor in NCEA level 1 and 2 mathematics and computer science.
Tutoring Approach:
I enjoy putting a lot of work into finding creative ways to explain difficult concepts when we meet, such as interactive desmos graphs, diagrams, and real life experiments. I will challenge the student with drill problems as well as extended abstract assignments, increasing with the student's understanding.
