Personal Description:

Highly experienced teacher, tutor and lecturer from Singapore who has migrated to New Zealand to provide a more holistic life experience for his children. I am a natural teacher who can simplify complex information and repackage it to make perfect sense to the learner. I am vested in the success of the learner because empowering others is my ethos. I choose to teach because I think I can make a difference to someone's aspirations.

Tutoring Experience:

I have taught English, Maths and Science at primary and secondary levels for over 20 years, and have been teaching language and communication skills for the vocational and adult education sectors for the past 7 years. I have been involved in tutoring for vulnerable children from underprivileged backgrounds and have also been a tutor with a local PTE delivering Youth Work Level 4 certificate programmes in recent times.

Tutoring Approach:

I want to establish where you are at and where you want to be and chart a course within the timeframe we have to achieve the target (or get close to it). I firmly believe that the teacher is responsible for creating the best individualised learning environment for the student, so I tend to use what is familiar to you to anchor the learning. For example, you may like movies or cars and if we are learning about language, I might liken the components of language (e.g. grammar, syntax, etc.) to the elements of film production or to the parts of a car so that it can make better sense and be less boring.
