Personal Description:
Kia ora, my name is Colette, I love living in Wellington and have been a teacher all my life. I was born in England and left when I was 30 on a one way ticket to Bangkok! I never went back, but eventually settled in NZ, married and I have 2 grown up kids. There are many things I like doing for example: walking in nature, reading, swimming in the sea, zumba, teaching drama and engaging with kids, adults and the environment! I am interested in sustainable waste management and have been an enviro leader in many schools over the years. I also have experience of being a team leader and working collaboratively in a range of teams.
Tutoring Experience:
I have over 20 years of teaching experience. I have taught in England and New Zealand primary schools (up to year 8) and have taught English as a second language in France. I am currently taking a break from full time teaching and I am relieving in schools around the Wellington area with year 0 to year 8. I am also currently tutoring in English and Maths.
I have worked in a variety of schools with students of all levels and abilities. I am a professional, experienced teacher with an in depth knowledge of the New Zealand Curriculum. I enjoy meeting new people and teaching is my passion!
Tutoring Approach:
I am a friendly, confident person and an experienced teacher and tutor. I intend to meet the student's educational needs by clearly establishing what the key areas are of concern and then using my extensive knowledge to source the right resources.
I consider my years of experience to have given me an insight into the educational needs of individual students and what their next steps may be. I value being able to make solid relationships and put a lot of effort into making sure the student is at ease. I know the importance of making a positive relationship, being adaptable, flexible and fun.
