Personal Description:

Hello! My name is Chloe and I am currently a first year student in AUT studying Computer Science and majoring in software development, network and cybersecurity. While choosing what to study for my degree, I decided to take a leap of faith and choose to study technology although I do not have any prior experience or knowledge of the tech industry. Throughout high school and college I took commerce subjects and have never studied any science subjects such as Biology or Chemistry which led me to feel insecure for not being smart enough for "science". Before university started, I decided to not let my past restrict what I can potentially achieve in the future. It was scary and intimidating to learn something entirely new to me and I can definitely relate to students who are hesitant and worried about learning complicated and new subjects. I believe that with hard work, determination and disciplined, anything can be achieved. However, a study-life balance is just as important too.

I have scored straight As in my high school exams and my most recent achievement is getting a 95.5/99 ATAR score for Year 12 WACE Australian Matriculation. I am fluent in Chinese and also English.

The easiest way to meet me would be around the AUT campus or anywhere around New Lynn which is where I reside. Otherwise, I am willing to travel as long as the location can be reached by public transport.

Tutoring Experience:

I have worked in a preschool and have been a teacher assistant during the Covid-19 Pandemic.
I have also taught children in church for 7 years ranging from age 3 - 12. I've led several youth camps held by my church.
I was a peer mentor in college and helped some of my peers with their studies. I have also taught music during high school in my high school band.

Overall, I enjoy helping the people around me understand things that I can grasp and feel great satisfaction when they manage to understand those things too!

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that everybody learns differently. My focus is not to teach the "correct" style of learning but rather understanding my students, working together to figure out what's the best way for them to learn and study. And so my teaching methods are personalized to cater to the different needs of every student so as to find what's holding them back and help them not only get a better grasp of the subject but find the joy in learning.

Learning should be fun! As a student myself, I know how torturous it can feel sometimes. I am patient, and we can go at your comfortable pace. I hope to provide support as a mentor would, and not just purely as a teacher.
