Personal Description:
I enjoy teaching maths and I also coach senior football at the same school I work at.
I can tutor in a variety of ways depending on the situation. For instance if there is long term tutoring to be done I am experienced in making the mathematics relateable to real life or teaching the concepts at a slower pace with more emphasis on why we do what we do when trying to apply or solve with maths.
Or if its immediately prior to (or if this is what the student wants) I can cover material quickly with tips or key ways to remember how to approach certain types of questions.
Tutoring Experience:
I am the head of the maths department and teacher teaching y9 through to y13 @ a secondary school in Auckland
I have plenty of tutoring experience from y6 through to first year university papers.
I have also tutored a few first year maths and engineering maths papers
Tutoring Approach:
One on one or small group tutoring is great because it enables the student to progress at their own pace and seek help for their queries immediately.
I take a low pressure approach to tutoring so that a student will not feel pressured to pretend they have understood something they have not. Slow and steady is the best method… unless you have a test soon
