Personal Description:

Hi, my name is Sinéad and I am a second year student of Maynooth University. I study Music and Irish there, two subjects I love. I am kind, friendly and I am used to dealing with people of all ages from all paths of life. I really enjoy working with people and I am known as a people-person.

Tutoring Experience:

I have been teaching family members music and music theory over the past few years. I have also tutored two students in Irish and I have worked at the Gaeltacht, working with teenagers and helping them to improve their Irish. As I am in second year and my aim is to become a Music and Irish teacher, I have made myself very clear of the requirements and the various standards that need to be met by the State Examinations Commission at both Junior and Leaving Certifica**Contact Detail Removed**vels. My mother has also influenced me hugely as a successful Irish teacher and has allowed me to gain experience in teaching by allowing me to tutor two students outside of school hours. I really enjoy tutoring and I find it incredibly rewarding when I see a student finally grasping a particular topic they might have been finding difficult and becoming more confident in themselves.

Approach to Grinds:

I understand that Grinds are expensive and that students should be squeezing every last drop of knowledge out of each lesson. I am a very organised individual and I will ensure that all lessons are tailored around the student's needs. Because every student is different, I adapt my notes to suit each student and I observe each student's learning speed and ability to help with the standard of notes I produce for them. There is no point in handing a student advanced A1 standard notes if the student is still struggling with the basics. I like to start with the foundation-the basics, and then it'll become easier to build on. I understand that State Exams in particular are extremely challenging and I know it's a tough time for students. Often, students dread going to grinds because they'll be afraid that their tutor will be angry at them for not doing enough work. My attitude to teaching is that I will give you all the help you need when I am there but I can not do the work for you. I will never get angry. If I see a student is doing their absolute best, I will be satisfied. I know some weeks will be tougher than others and you will have to prioritise other subjects over our subject but as long as you're honest to me and I can see you've attempted your work I will be happy.
