Personal Description:
I am a Law Tutor and English, Irish and Art tutor who provides online tutoring sessions.
I have a First Class Honours Degree in Law from Trinity College Dublin, with an LLM in International Environmental Law with several years tutoring experience. I also tutor Leaving Cert Irish, English and Art.
I love to teach and grew up with two teachers as parents so have spent the majority of my life in and out of class rooms. I have a passion for language and the law and am currently studying to be a college professor while tutoring on the side.
I focus on making my students feel confident and prepared on the day to quiet the noise and nerves. When a student knows they have covered everything they need to in the lead up to an exam it allows them to focus on what they want to say, which I believe is supposed to be the point of an exam.
My lessons will be concise, direct and I will ensure that the student does not enter their exam feeling like there are gaps in their knowledge. My job is providing the information, it is your job to interpret it and relay it to your examiner, and we will work on these skills together.
Tutoring Experience:
I have several years experience tutoring for the leaving cert, with classes tailored to what the student needs, for example doing crash courses in oral examination practices or spending a few weeks prepping and practicing essays or nailing down grammar. I tend to focus on providing the student with extensive notes to incorporate within their study, practicing exam technique and addressing the student's specific needs within the tutoring sessions. I approach Irish grinds holistically, and focus on making the student comfortable with the language and not to be scared to make mistakes.
In terms of Law tutoring for college students I have taught Criminal, Civil and Legal Philosophy in the past but can cover a range of modules, just reach out and I can let you know if I can help you. I received the foundation scholarship at Trinity for Criminal Law, Contract Law, Administrative Law and Legal Theory. I also have worked in Conveyancing and Civil Law for three years now and have a masters in International Law so the range of subjects I can cover is very wide.
At college level I will initially focus on your itinerary and try to gain an understanding of your lecturers approach to the subject to understand their expectations of you. I will then provide you with extensive notes for your subject. Our lessons will focus on specific areas of the law, dependent on your exam format, and will be discussion based with me teaching you the fundamentals and figuring out your own opinions and ideas and structuring them so that you have many ideas to pull from in an exam setting, backed up by case law and summaries of articles I have provided to you.
Approach to Grinds:
I focus on making my students feel confident and prepared on the day to quiet the noise and nerves. When a student knows they have covered everything they need to in the lead up to an exam it allows them to focus on what they want to say, which I believe is supposed to be the point of an exam. With regards to College Level Grinds I tend to focus on providing very comprehensive notes and then establishing what the students own ideas are about the subject, I will then assist them in structuring this so that they can draw easily on these concepts and the notes I have provided to them when it comes to the exam.
My lessons will be concise, direct and I will ensure that the student does not enter their exam feeling like there are gaps in their knowledge. My job is providing the information, it is your job to interpret it and relay it to your examiner, and we will work on these skills together.
