Personal Description:
Hi my name is Rachel ! I am a final year student at UCC studying English Literature and Irish Language Studies!
I offer English and Irish grinds to those studying in secondary school or those who would like to brush up their skills in either subject. I can offer in person classes to those within the Cork city vicinity and online to those who are not.
Tutoring Experience:
I have worked in Cólaiste Uisce for several years during the summer courses and during off - season. I would be supervise the students, between the ages of 13-18, within the Cólaiste, helping to immerse them in the Irish language while observing how students used and approved their language skills. We used various systems and had different approaches depending on the child's capability and confidence with the language in which we would cater around them and make sure by the end of the course they had developed a new found confidence and respect for their language.
I have also worked with children from France in improving their spoken English and working on their dialect with the language
Approach to Grinds:
My approach to grinds depends on the student themselves, their goals within the subject and what they would like to improve on. I will cater to each student individually, depending on how they best absorb and regurgitate information. I will always create a safe and enjoyable environment so that the student will feel comfortable and at ease when learning while also working with the student's confidence towards the subject which is key

I am new to Irish, and Rachel has really helped me get to grips with things quickly. Her passion for the Irish language is obvious, and lessons are fun whilst at the same when lessons are over I always find I have completed an impressive (to me anyway!) amount of work. She sends out lesson plans (complete with vocab lists and pronunciation guides) so you know what to expect and can work on things before or afterwards, and homework (optional, so don't worry) too which is really useful. I have absolutely no hesitations whatsoever in recommending her. Tom M. (East Sussex, UK)
