Personal Description:

Hello everyone! I'm Lia, an American tutor happily residing in Ireland. I have travelled across many countries and familiarised myself with a wide range of accents and dialects. As a result, I've developed a neutral, easy to understand accent, as well as an awareness of the challenges that English learners might face.

My hobbies include creative writing, linguistics, upgrading my knowledge in evolution, biochemistry and biomedical research, playing music, video production, hiking and swimming. I like learning about different viewpoints and forms of expression.

I hold a BS with honours (Magna Laude) from the CUNY (City University of New York) Baccalaureate Programme for Unique and Interdisciplinary Studies, an individualised degree route for high achieving, self-directed students. Notably, I took advanced courses such as Genetics, Carcinogenesis and Molecular Virology, worked diligently, and was awarded 2 certificates in recognition of outstanding academic achievements by the Dean of the Biology Department.

Tutoring Experience:

I've had the pleasure of working with international students and professionals alike to improve their English language skills in a variety of methods including structured lessons, discussion of vocabulary in topics of choice, business interview practice, and daily conversations to build up confidence in the spoken language.

Notably, drawing on my background in the life sciences, I assist in preparing research proposals, academic course materials and medical presentatios for international and American audiences.
