Personal Description:
Hi there! I'm Joshua, a passionate tutor with a first-class honours degree in Genetics. I'm here to make learning enjoyable, engaging, and tailored to your needs.
With a strong background in biology, chemistry, and physics, I love breaking down complex concepts into simple, clear explanations. I understand that every student learns differently, so I tailor my teaching to suit your unique learning style.
Additionally, I'm highly proficient in French (LC H1), so if you'd like improve your French language skills with key tools for the French language exams in Ireland, I’m happy to support you in both areas.
I'm friendly, patient, and always happy to answer any questions — no question is too small or too silly. My goal is to create a positive and encouraging learning environment where you feel comfortable to grow and succeed
If you’re ready to build your confidence in science or French, I’d love to hear from you. Let’s work together to achieve your goals!
Tutoring Experience:
My teaching experience began with tutoring my younger brother in sciences and French, which I found incredibly rewarding. It taught me the value of patience, adaptability, and explaining concepts in a way that makes sense to someone else. Seeing his confidence grow with each session inspired me to pursue tutoring more formally.
Beyond academics, my experience as a supervisor in hospitality roles has strengthened my ability to guide, support, and communicate with people from diverse backgrounds. These roles have taught me to stay calm under pressure, provide clear instructions, and adapt my communication style to suit the needs of different individuals. Together, these experiences have equipped me with the skills to be a patient, supportive, and effective tutor.
Approach to Grinds:
Initial Assessment & Goal Setting:
I start each tutoring relationship by understanding the student’s specific goals, challenges, and learning preferences. This helps tailor the sessions to their individual needs from the very beginning.
Customized Lesson Plans:
Each session is focused on the student’s key areas for improvement. I prioritize difficult concepts, break them down step-by-step, and ensure understanding before moving forward.
Interactive and Engaging Learning:
I encourage active participation by asking questions, discussing ideas, and solving problems together. I believe learning is most effective when students are engaged and feel comfortable asking questions.
Clear Explanations & Patience:
No question is too small or "silly." I provide clear, simple explanations for complex concepts and am happy to revisit topics as needed.
Practice & Application:
I offer practice problems, real-world applications, and step-by-step walkthroughs of challenging questions to build confidence and competence.
Homework & Assessments:
To reinforce learning, I provide optional homework or short assessments. These tasks highlight areas that may need extra focus in future sessions.
Progress Reviews & Feedback:
I track progress with students and offer constructive feedback. If a particular method isn’t working, I adapt to find a more effective approach.
