Information About Jamie - Waterford tutor

Personal Description:

Hi, my name is Jamie and I achieved 625 points in my Leaving Certificate in 2024 as a student of Abbey Community College in Waterford. During my time as a Leaving Cert student, I was a tutor for first year students, a member of the Student Council Executive and I received the 6th Year Student of the Year award for Physics, Economics, History and English. I want to share my personal tips and methods with current Leaving Cert students across a wide variety of subjects to help them achieve the best possible grades for their own examinations.

Tutoring Experience:

Through three years of football coaching experience with the FAI, I have become accustomed to working with teenagers of all ages in both one on one and group environments. I was also a tutor for younger students during my own time as a Leaving Cert student which allowed me to develop both my communicational and organisational skills. As a result, I feel confident and comfortable in giving grinds to Leaving Certificate students of all levels.

Approach to Grinds:

I want to share my own unique experiences in approaching the Leaving Cert with students. This involves an approach of active study; keeping the pen moving as much as possible and focusing on exam technique. I will provide the notes and practice questions that helped me achieve maximum points in my own Leaving Cert and aim to teach students methods of studying more efficiently.
During the first lesson, we will construct a plan to understand each individual student's goals and current standing at any given subject. The following lessons will have a heavy focus on exam technique for that particular subject. I am also available to the students outside of the lesson hours free of charge, should the students have any questions between grinds.
I give grinds to students studying both Higher and Ordinary Level
