Information About Jake - Port Laoise tutor

Personal Description:

I hold a BSc in Physics with a specialisation in Astrophysics, currently, I am pursuing a research master's in planet formation theory and I have recently been granted funding for a PhD in Trinity College Dublin starting in 2025, also in the field of planet formation theory. I grew up and currently live in Portlaoise, and would love to spread my love for Physics and Science to those interested in improving within these fields! Who knows, maybe one day we could end up researching together.

Tutoring Experience:

I have taught both Physics and Computer Science labs for just under 2 years now within the University of Galway and will continue to do so at Trinity. These labs include core principles that exist within secondary school curriculums. I also assist the undergraduates within the Galway Planet Formation group with their Final Year Projects, an introduction to research within the field.

Approach to Grinds:

I believe it is very important to allow the student to ease into topics and understand the core principles beneath the teachings, rather than rope learning material. Physics, mathematics, and computer science share similar learning approaches, where understanding the underlying principles is crucial. Grasping the "why" behind the concepts enables a deeper comprehension and equips you to independently tackle problems. I aim to help students both appreciate and enjoy these subjects, rather than feel overwhelmed by their complexity.
