Personal Description:

I am a qualified English Literature and English language teacher. I have always had a passion not only for the literature but also the use of the language. English in my eyes in a core skill to have, as with communication you can gain success. I truly believe in the power of language and want to help students to increase their skills. Most subjects in the Junior Certificate and Leaving Certificates are sat through English so I always focus on helping the student gain access to the language and begin to master the skill in both language and literature. I also hold a degree, and a great love for, Drama and Theatre which allows me to see communication on a different level and help those who wish to increase their grade by teaching them to do so also.

Approach to Grinds:

Because English is a very creative subject it is important that written work in done within the grinds lesson and also outside. In order to increase their creative skill, practise is required by the student. Discussion is another aspect to the lesson as it is important not only to be able to discuss topics in this subject but also to challenge and debate and formulate opinions within a short time frame. Personal reflection is something I encourage with students as it allows them to take ownership of their success in this subject and how they can improve each time.
