Personal Description:

I am a qualified Irish Literature and Irish Language Teacher. I have always had a passion not only for the literature but also the use of the language. Irish in my eyes is a core skill to have. I truly believe in the power of language and want to help students to increase their skills. I always focus on helping the student gain access to the language and begin to master the skill in both language and literature.

Tutoring Experience:

I am a qualified Irish (Junior Certificate and Leaving Certificate) and History Teacher
B.A. in Irish and History from the University College Cork (UCC)
Masters in Education (PME) from the University College Cork (UCC)
Teaching Leaving Cert Irish for five years.

Approach to Grinds:

Because Irish is a very creative subject it is important that written work is done within the grinds lesson and also outside. In order to increase their creative skill, practise is required by the student. Discussion is another aspect to the lesson as it is important not only to be able to discuss topics in this subject but also to challenge and debate and formulate opinions within a short time frame. Personal reflection is something I encourage with students as it allows them to take ownership of their success in this subject and how they can improve each time.
