Personal Description:

Hi there, I am a qualified secondary school teacher. I trained in the UK and spent 5 Years teaching GCSE and A Levels in two top schools in North Wales. I moved back to Ireland to teach at home. I have spent the past 7 years in Ireland teaching English. I teach all levels from 1st-6th year including Leaving Cert Applied.

I enjoy teaching learners who find English challenging. I teach methods for approaching exams including critical thinking, essay structure and improving language skills. I am passionate about demystifying the state exams and making English approachable, enjoyable and developing students’ confidence in the subject.

Success to me is achieving your own personal educational goals. I hope to inspire students to learn to love the subject as much as I do!

Tutoring Experience:

2 Years teaching experience teaching English as a second language in Japan.
5 Years teaching experience in the UK.
7 Years teaching experience in North County Dublin.

I currently teach in North County Dublin. I am the Literacy Coordinator, created the school library and implement reading initiatives across the whole school.

I teach English to all year groups 1st-6th, including TY specialist modules (drama, film studies) and Leaving Cert Applied.

I have also taught in Japan teaching English as a second language and in Wales teaching both English and History at GCSE and A Level.

I am friendly and approachable. My aim is to ensure that all students are comfortable in a one to one class. There is no wrong question to ask and this is the space to ask them.

Approach to Grinds:

Firstly, I like to establish students' learning styles and goals. I will query areas of weakness and put in place a plan to improve these areas and to build confidence.

I will prepare resources that enhance learning and compliment the students’ learning in class.

Secondly, I create step by step approaches to tackle difficult areas of learning.
