Information About Caoimhe - Virginia tutor

Personal Description:

My name is Caoimhe and I am a medical student studying at the university of Galway. I got 590 points in my leaving cert in 2023 with a H1 in Biology, chemistry and Spanish (100% in my oral) . I have been teaching grinds in these subjects for two years now and last year two of my students got H1’s in chemistry. I absolutely love teaching and I know how stressful and difficult the leaving cert can be. I feel like because I have been through it so recently I can connect with students better and try and understand How to help them achieve their desired grade!

Tutoring Experience:

I have spent a lot of time teaching students in the evenings after college and during the summer. I really enjoy helping students and making sure they enjoy and get the most out of my classes. I currently have two students for chemistry and one for Spanish and biology weekly so I have been continuously gaining teaching experience for the past few months. Specifically for Spanish I speak it fluently and have family in Barcelona. I started learning it when I was 13 and I did it as an extra subject outside of school as it wasn’t an option in my school. I now have a friend in college who is Mexican so I am continuously speaking it daily.

Approach to Grinds:

I give grinds over zoom video call and share my screen on a whiteboard while working through each chapter and topic. After the first lesson I try to identify the students weakest topics and ensure they understand them well before moving on. I try and listen to students needs and check in throughout the lesson to make sure the student finds what I do beneficial and helpful! Everyone is different so I like to ask each student what they would like to do before the lesson so I can prepare notes, past papers and sample questions.
