Personal Description:

Hello there,

I’m Ava, I hold a 1:1 BSc in Actuarial Mathematics from DCU and completeed my Leaving Certificate in 2016, achieving 565/625 points. I am currently offering maths grinds for all levels, primary, junior & senior cycle, for both junior and leaving certificate.

Offering now grinds throughout both the academic year and summer virtually over Zoom.

Tutoring Experience:

I have worked closely with many students, friends and family members whereby I have offered help when it comes to mathematical problems, both at a school and university level. I have a lot of experience in delving into mathematical problems as a team which I have gained from team projects and the Maths Learning Centre in both UCD and DCU library. I have given mathematics grinds to students from as young as 5th class through to leaving certificate pupils, some of whom have been and are aiming for A1s.

Approach to Grinds:

I want students to try to understand the fundamentals of what they are working on and where things originate from, and also I want to have quite an exam driven approach (past questions, hands on tackling of exam papers) in my grinds, yet my approach to grinds will vary student to student, depending on what they want to achieve, so it isn't fair I write just one absolute approach.

I am a very friendly person with excellent interpersonal skills, I want the student to feel at ease and comfortable working on problems with me, and want them to feel free to ask any questions and to voice any areas they want to work on at any stage! As I was once a student myself, and I was for the most part of twenty years, I know the importance of good communication between a student and their teacher.
