Information About Aoife - Galway tutor

Personal Description:

Hi there!
My name is Aoife, I’m a final year university student in the University of Limerick on track for a 1st class honors degree.
I study German and Spanish secondary school teaching and because of this I have a deep insight into the structures of the state exams.

I have plenty experience learning languages myself and have been awarded multiple scholarships and awards for my German including:

2022: DAAD - Fortbildungskurs University of Heidelberg
2020: Deutsch Olympiade Finalist
2019: PAD Internationaler Preisträger Programm - In which I achieved one of the top 5 German Junior Certificate results in Ireland.

Alongside this, I also achieved the maximum of 625 points in my Leaving Cert in 2021.

Tutoring Experience:

I have been giving German grinds for the last 4 years and I particularly love helping students in preparation for their oral exams.

Due to having completed a fully-immersive German language teaching course in the University of Heidelberg, Germany over the summer and studying education and language pedagogy in University I have many teaching methods which I can adapt to each of my student's individual needs.

So how have my students improved after taking grinds with me?

After scoring 74% in his oral in the mock examinations one of my students decided to take grinds with me. After only a few one-on-one tutoring lessons he went on to score an amazing 97% in his oral exam, securing him with his all-desired H1 in German in the Leaving Cert!

Approach to Grinds:

During my first lesson I ask the student where they think their level is at, what they want to achieve and and any areas they particularly want help in.
After assessing student’s levels I then take a practical approach to the exam and work systematically through different elements of the exam paper.
