Personal Description:
My name is Amir, and I am 26 years old. I am a chemical engineer and currently a second-year PhD student at University College Cork (UCC), specializing in atmospheric chemistry. I grew up in Tunis, the capital of Tunisia, where I completed my undergraduate studies in Industrial Chemistry Engineering.
I am fluent in French, English, Tunisian Arabic, and Modern Standard Arabic. I consider myself a friendly and approachable person who is passionate about helping others and sharing knowledge. I find great satisfaction in teaching and supporting students in their academic journeys.
Tutoring Experience:
I have diverse teaching experience that spans different settings and subjects. Previously, I taught grinds both online and at home in Tunisia to support myself financially. This experience honed my skills in personalized instruction and adapting to various student needs.
Currently, I tutor and teach chemistry labs at University College Cork (UCC) for a few hours each week. This role has enhanced my ability to communicate complex concepts effectively and engage students in a laboratory setting.
Additionally, I have lifelong teaching experience with my younger brother, guiding him through his educational journey. This has further developed my patience and ability to explain topics in a relatable manner.
Approach to Grinds:
I have gained substantial insights through both receiving and providing grinds, shaping my understanding of their pivotal role in education. To me, grinds are a bridge that guides students from merely having academic materials to fully comprehending and utilizing them effectively.
My approach to grinds centers on creating a student-focused environment. I encourage students to voice their questions and concerns, helping pinpoint their specific challenges. By understanding their needs and goals, I can tailor our sessions to address these areas, ensuring that students overcome difficulties and build confidence.
I also believe in fostering an interactive learning atmosphere, using practical examples, problem-solving exercises, and discussions to make the learning experience dynamic. My goal is to transform passive understanding into active knowledge, enabling students to apply what they've learned with confidence and independence.
In summary, my approach to grinds empowers students to take control of their learning journey, overcome challenges, and achieve their educational goals.
