Information About Zoe
Saanich tutorPersonal Description:
My name is Zoe! I am a third year Anthropology student at the University of Victoria. I have lived here for the past four years, and balanced going to school and working at a local cafe. I am friendly and easygoing. I spend most of my time working, studying, and enjoying the outdoors. I recently returned from Europe where I backpacked for two months.
Tutoring Experience:
In October 2019 I gained my TESOL certificate from Oxford Seminars, in order to obtain this certificate I had a practicum. My TESOL practicum involved me planning and teaching an hour and a half lesson on idioms in the English language. Beyond this, I did some tutoring in various areas of study throughout high school. In high school I also had the opportunity to work as a peer mentor, and a tutor to students with Autism.
Tutoring Approach:
My approach to tutoring involves being honest and patient with the student. For me, tutoring is not about me talking and someone else listening, it's about collaborating and teaching them the best ways to learn. I try to maintain a professional and organized atmosphere while still taking the time to make a meaningful connection with the student and their family. I am flexible with what methods/tools I use to teach because I know not everyone learns the same.
