Information About Vishal
Okotoks tutorPersonal Description:
Hi there! My name is Vishal, I am a second year university student studying at Purdue University which is in Indiana, USA. I'm currently pursuing an engineering degree with a minor in business economics. I'm originally from Vancouver, BC, but lived (and graduated) in Calgary, AB for several years.
In my free time I love to play video games, watch movies & shows, listen to music, do martial arts, and go snowboarding (though Indiana isn't the greatest place for that right now).
I'm fluent in English and patient with English as Second Language (ESL) given a basic level of proficiency that will allow me communicate with the student.
Tutoring Experience:
While I have no formal tutoring/teaching experience. I've been tutoring friends and other classmates off the books for years now and I think I'm more than capable of helping you relieve some of the stress that school work at any level can put upon us.
I mainly tutored in Math and Physics as they are my strongest areas of expertise and held small group tutoring sessions to help struggling students better understand the content in case they weren't able to understand the teacher and needed more personal attention.
Tutoring Approach:
I feel that every person is different and a consequence of that is their approaches to learning must be highly personalized to best suit individual needs and preferences. Not to say that it's ineffective in all cases, but the more rigid teaching method employed by schools isn't always the greatest when it comes to helping each and every student succeed.
To that extent, I'd highly prefer to have an initial consultation meeting with the student (at no cost) to help me better assess the breadth and depth of the content, the amount of time we have, and the reason for tutoring. With this information I can create a more realistic lesson plan to help lower the time (and cost) you need to invest while maximizing the overall benefit you receive.
Something to mention is that I entirely sympathize with exam cram situations. I would be lying if I said I had never drastically shortened my exam study time due to procrastination or other factors, with that said however I think that experience has given me the tools needed to help students improve their grades within a minimal amount of time.
