Information About Tia
Vancouver tutorPersonal Description:
I am currently a third year student studying microbiology and immunology at the university of British Columbia. This summer I will be working during the day at a cancer research lab. I have previously completed an academically rigorous and lab-based two year pre-medicine program. I excel at biological sciences but I am comfortable with most school subjects to the high school level.
Tutoring Experience:
I have previously tutored a elementary school aged child, however I have extensive experience working with children and young adults. I have coached several soccer teams with ages varying from 12 years old to 17 years old. I have also worked as a day camp worker at the spca for 4 summers working with school aged children.
Tutoring Approach:
I believe that the ability to perform well in class comes from a deep understanding of the material. Rather than focusing on memorization or methodology, I will focus on building foundational knowledge, and then expanding onto those bases with detail to create a well rounded understanding of the topic. Furthermore, I know that it is much more fun to learning something when it is interesting, so I will work with you and your child to incorporate interests into the work that we do.
