Personal Description:
Bilingual, self-employed professional with a passion for educating and connecting with young people. Witnessing those lightbulb moments as my students reach new heights quite literally gives me goosebumps.
Attended Toronto French School, skipped 8th grade, completed enhanced/extended French programs in secondary school, and attended Neuchâtel Junior College (Switzerland) for extended grade 12 to further enhance my French skills. University of Toronto graduate with Honours Bachelor of Science, double majoring in French Linguistics and Psychology.
Working with youth, especially one-on-one, has been a passion of mine for as long as I can remember, and I have been volunteering in teaching environments since age 10. I'm very adaptable, compassionate, detail-oriented, enthusiastic, organized, patient - and am able to explain subject material in a variety of ways to ensure students fully understand what they're learning. Several references available, from satisfied parents who have been loyal clients (some, more like family) for up to 7 years.
I volunteered in Peel classrooms from 2001-2016 to gain first-hand knowledge pertinent to teaching approaches. Since 2015, I have been tutoring full-time with students aged 3.5-24 years; with 15 current students grades 7 through first year university (in both Ontario and Alberta), I am very familiar with Canadian curriculum standards what it takes to navigate the education system. Thanks to both my psychology degree and experience, I achieve results with students struggling academically, whether with learning disabilities - such as ADHD and autism - or complex emotional needs serving as barriers to academic success, such as social anxiety and Post Traumatic Stress.
