Personal Description:

Hello! My name is Stefania and I am an experienced tutor and instructor passionate about seeing my students succeed and reach their full potential!

I have a Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering and I am currently completing a Master of Science in Hydrology. I specialize in tutoring math and sciences to students of all levels. I understand the student’s need for personalized guidance and instruction. I’m an interactive, supportive tutor, and enjoy using various teaching tools (technology, visual aids, written examples) to help a student succeed.

I also have specialized experience in computer softwares such as; MatLab, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Hydrus 1D, AutoCAD for Civil Engineering

Tutoring Experience:

I have 2 years of experience tutoring elementary and high school students one-on-one in math (Advanced Functions, Calculus and Vectors, Data Management), sciences (Physics and Chemistry), english and introductory coding (MatLab and Python).

I have 4 years of experience teaching in a group or classroom setting to university students as a teaching assistant. I have taught environmental science courses such as; Introduction to Environmental Sciences, Sustainability, Natural Disasters, Sustainable Cities and Geographic Information Systems (GIS).

Tutoring Approach:

I have experience tutoring students of all levels (elementary, high school and university/college). My tutoring approach is centred around creating a supportive and engaging learning environment.

I cater to each students strengths and learning styles, and tailor the lessons accordingly. By getting to know my students and understanding their goals and challenges, I can customize each session to meet their specific needs. This can include individualized lesson plans for students who appreciate more visual learning, problem solving examples or longer explanations etc.

I always strive for comprehensive understanding of the subject matter opposed to memorization. I will typically begin with an initial assessment of the student to understand the current knowledge and identify any knowledge gaps. From there, I will create a plan to break down complex concepts into manageable parts. I can use resources given or prepare my own examples and content as well.
