Personal Description:
My name is Simran and I am currently a third-year university student at Wilfrid University. I am majoring in History and minoring in English and Anthropology. As these are mainly arts courses, English and essay writing have become my strong suit. In the future, I want to get my Bachelors of Education and pursue becoming a teacher. I am interested in tutoring and teaching in general because I like having the satisfaction of knowing I am helping a student progress successfully in their academics.
Tutoring Experience:
I have been tutoring on and off for a year and a half. I have also helped writing papers in my university for first years which has built my experience in different writing styles and perspectives. I have also volunteered with children when I was in high school to read to kindergarteners and try to help them read along with me.
Tutoring Approach:
I used to have bad experiences with tutors and never learned anything based solely on the fact that they would be very strict and their was no mutual understanding between us. My approach to tutoring is forming a relationship of common ground between us in order to understand the students learning style. I teach the way the student would feel most comfortable in order to guarantee that the student is understanding and interpreting everything that is being taught to them.
