Personal Description:

I am a longtime educator who, in addition to teaching college courses in the US, has taught high school students in China, and that experience helps me as an English tutor, whether I am working with native speakers or ESL/ELL students. If you are looking for some guidance with English and literature related subjects, I can help, whether it's with the complexities of English grammar and syntax, high school or college English, or comparative literature.

Tutoring Experience:

I have more than a decade of experience teaching in the college classroom, and have worked as an editor for a number of magazines and journals. I received my bachelor's degree in English and Literature and I have an MFA in Creative Writing.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that writing is a recursive process. As an English tutor I try not to simply hand students a set of rules, but rather guide them through reflection and revision strategies that will serve as useful tools after our time together is finished.
