Personal Description:

I enjoy working as an English tutor and having a positive impact on the academic success of young students. In addition to helping them learn, I work to improve their study habits and confidence. I mainly work with students through high school and early college, as I'm able to most empathize with their concerns.

Tutoring Experience:

I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a minor in Bioengineering. After working with a pharmaceutical company for 1 1/2 years, in the field of oncology clinical research, I earned my Master of Science in Medical Sciences in May 2015. I'm now in my 4th year volunteering as an elementary school level tutor for a non-profit organization.

Tutoring Approach:

If a student struggles in a topic, I break down the process with incremental learning, providing access to supplemental educational resources whenever necessary (thereby helping instill independent learning habits). If a student lacks motivation, I look to find the source and work to engage them. When confidence is an issue, I start with easier concepts and gradually transition into more challenging topics.
