Information About Sarah
Ontario tutorPersonal Description:
Hello! My name is Sarah and I am a graduated high school student who has successfully achieved a high status honour role in all four years of secondary school. I am a bubbly and patient person who loves helping others. I have a passion for making genuine connections and am extremely excited to build a community of people ready to improve themselves and their confidence academically.Upon receiving my diploma I was given an award received by students with above a 90% average in their graduating year. I am most successful in English, finishing grade eleven with a 95% and grade twelve with a 92%. I offer services to anyone seeking out assistance in junior (grade 9-10) math, sciences and French and all grade levels of English. I am happy to work with elementary students looking for greater success in all subject areas excluding history and geography. I am open to helping brainstorm for and edit essays, test preparation and homework help. I look forward to working with you!
Tutoring Experience:
I have worked with elementary students one-on-one while reading, helped in lunch rooms and assisted in active play during recesses. I have no previous professional tutoring experience with high school students aside from working with classmates to reteach a topic in preparation for a test.
Tutoring Approach:
I understand feeling frustrated with not understanding. I have struggled with self doubt when not getting a topic down-pat the first time. I have adapted to the notion that I will never be perfect, but I can do my best! I aspire to help others, set reasonable goals to uplift themselves and their academic journeys! I hope to be part of a foundation that provides students with the willingness to learn without perfection, gaining the motivation to improve. I believe practice is the best way to do this! Begin with the basics and create a foundation of understanding and then move on to challenging problem sets. With the ability to make sense of a question and apply it to a real life scenario, or analyse why the theme of a text is important, one can make wonder of what was previously simply textbook work. Our world is incredible and is filled with knowledge to nourish our minds. Learning is the goal. If one can leave a session saying they learned something, it was successful. Let's take ourselves back to the idea that school is food for the mind and not a chore, bringing back the excitement of gaining knowledge!
