Personal Description:
My name is Sarah, and I am a third-year Bachelor of Science student at MacEwan University. I speak English and French, and have completed a few French courses in University. I love biology and chemistry, and I enjoy spending my free time reading and watching movies. Also, I volunteer as an assistant coach for my sister's high school basketball team. I also received an honours award every year from grade 7-12 from my junior high and high school.
Tutoring Experience:
I am my little brother's personal tutor, so I help him with all his subjects as well as French, since he is in French Immersion. I also nanny as a part-time job while in school, and tutoring is one of my job requirements for that. I mostly help with elementary school level coursework, but I also help my younger sister with her grade 12 biology and chemistry homework and studying for tests.
Tutoring Approach:
The way I learn is through repetition and explanation, therefore explaining a concept in full detail to a child has proven very beneficial in their ability to understand the material. I like the child to learn themselves and at their own pace, which is why I also ask questions to ensure reading comprehension, whether it be in French or English. I like to have a low-stress environment while tutoring, and I like to make sure the child is comfortable and is having fun while also working through tough concepts.
