Personal Description:

My name is Sara , I am 21 years old, recently married, and we just bought our first home together. We have two sweet dogs, and an adventurous kitty. I love our little house in our small town, and nothing brings me more joy than being able to work together on the house that we are so blessed to own. I have always loved learning, and thrived in school. I have a love for helping others to learn and I am passionate about making learning accessible and available to everyone. I love coffee, music, art, writing, photography and many other things, my hobbies and interests are always shifting and growing.

Tutoring Experience:

I did peer tutoring through middle school and high school, and have worked as an Educational Assistant. I worked as a behavior interventionist at an agency for kids with autism, teaching vital developmental skills and a variety of social learning, emotional regulation and academic programs to kids ages 2-18. I currently offer respite care to parents of kids with special needs who do not have the funding to afford programs, I provide more affordable, flexible care, allowing parents the time to breathe.

Tutoring Approach:

My older sister has Down Syndrome, and it is because of her beautiful influence in my life and childhood that learning and teaching holds such a dear place in my heart. I have been helping her learn since we were young girls, creating ways that she can thrive, adjusting the goals and expectations to help her achieve success, but in reality, she is the one who teaches me in abundance every single day. I truly believe that anyone can learn, no matter their limitations and I am committed to helping make that a reality. I truly love to teach, but I equally love to learn. My approach to tutoring is the understanding that it is mutually beneficial, I learn how to teach, new ways to get my point across, how to resonate and relate with a variety of students and lifestyles. I also believe that we should never come in with expectations that limit someone's potential. My sister has shown me countless times that when given the freedom to grow and learn, and supported by the tools and resources she needs, she thrives immensely. She has come leaps and bounds, and everyday I am amazed by her resilience and ability to learn and to teach others.

My approach to tutoring is one full of grace and humility in knowing I have much to learn, as do you, and what an honor it is to be on this learning journey together. I'm so excited to get started.
