Personal Description:
I am a Sociology instructor and a PhD candidate at the University of Victoria. I come from an interdisciplinary background, mostly focused on political sociology, migration studies, and historical sociology. My current research area is sociology of health and migration. I am passionate about all fields of sociology and relevant social science topics, including social psychology and political science.
Tutoring Experience:
I have worked as a tutorial leader in 100 level Sociology courses for one year, and later designed and taught my own 400-level online Sociology course at the University of Victoria. Before coming to Canada, I have taught one-on-one ESL and essay writing courses to many Turkish and Iranian students.
Tutoring Approach:
I believe that Social science cannot be studied in a vacuum, therefore I try to work on the critical thinking and discussion skills of my students by exposing them to current events, international news, and social debates. I am respectful to thoughts and ideas of all my students, and I am happy to teach them how to scientifically develop and support their arguments, based on sociological theory and literature.
