Tutoring Experience:

I have three years teaching full time at the high school level in Saskatchewan. I have also substituted in the Saskatchewan school system from grade one through to grade 12. I was a teaching assistant at the U of Regina while I was taking classes for my Masters degree in Canadian History. I have taught several public education classes in the area of law and politics.

My experience as a lawyer, elected politician, small business owner, and teacher provides me with some practical experience that will be quite helpful in approaching various subjects.

Tutoring Approach:

It is important to listen to what the student needs. This means being patient and being a good listener. I don't see my role as a substitute teacher, but rather as a collaborator who will work with the student to solve a common problem.

The ultimate goal is to assist the student to become an independent learner.

I think that by sharing some of my life experiences both with respect to how I learned to become a better student and with respect to being able to share actual life experiences can help to clarify a particular subject or point of discussion.
