Information About Rachel
Peterborough tutorPersonal Description:
I am a recent graduate on Nipissing University with a degree in criminology. I am enrolled in college this fall in the conservation biology program and am hoping to pursue a career that includes both disciplines. I have experience working with kids of all ages and teaching them important lessons and values in both ecology and biology and have also helped with an organization that teaches adults life lessons and important tools they need to pursue a career. I am passionate about learning and teaching and would love the opportunity to do so.
Tutoring Experience:
I have experience in teaching individuals ages 2-90 in the importance of our ecosystem by using animal ambassadors to stress the importance of each species in our environment and the part they play in our world.
I also have experience in teaching adults important life skills and helping them develop ways in which they can learn more easily and comprehend the information at hand. This leads to them feeling ready and confident going into an interview or applying for a new job.
Lastly, I was a peer tutor in high school and would guide my classmates through lessons and answer any questions they may have. I developed lesson plans and reported daily on what I did.
Tutoring Approach:
My approach to tutoring is to be a helpful guide along the way on an individuals path to learning. I hope to make lessons interesting, make the students feel involved and excited about what they are learning. I will be very supportive and answer any questions my students may have or any struggles or issues they may be having with the course material. I will always be prepared, patient and adapt to whatever the situation may be.
