Personal Description:
I am a recent physics graduate from the University of Manchester who now lives in Whistler, BC. Originally from Belfast, I moved to Canada shortly after graduating and I have worked previously in aerospace engineering. During both my school and university years, I privately tutored multiple mathematics students (16-18, one-to-one) to ensure their success in their final examinations and I am therefore enthusiastic about imparting the knowledge and problem-solving techniques that I have gained onto those that require an extra boost to succeed in the fields of physics & mathematics.
Tutoring Experience:
One-to-one tutoring of mathematics students (16-18 yrs) for school examinations.
Tutoring Approach:
Coming from an extensive background of science + technology, I know exactly what it's like to initially struggle with key concepts. I myself received a few tutoring sessions for a computer science course that I undertook in school and saw the benefits first-hand of how a few crucial tips and pointers can really help clear some major hurdles in understanding. I believe that sparking an interest is the catalytic component for increasing productivity and success and so my key philosophy is not just to teach, but to also inspire.
My main approach is to first identify key faults in the student's understanding, to correct these errors and finally to consolidate what they have learned by explicitly working through numerous example problems.
