Personal Description:
My name is Panayiota (Yiota for short). I'm currently a second year undergraduate student at the University of Toronto (St George Campus). I'd consider myself to be a well-rounded individual as I have a range of hobbies varying in disciplinarians. I've self taught numerous musical instruments such as: violin, piano, ukuele and guitar. I'm currently a member of the Hellenic Student Association and used to compete in the Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations. On my free time I enjoy volunteering, and am currently affiliated with several non-profitable organizations, some of which include: The Canadian Cancer Society(CCS), Canadian Open Parkinson Network (C-OPN), and Women without Borders (WwB). I'm interested in tutoring because I come from a family of educators whom have all taught me the importance of education and i truly believe it is the key to success hence why I'm currently a student myself. At one point, I required a tutor for math/some science classes and I'd like to share my knowledge to other youth who would benefit from the additional academic support. If given the opportunity, I truly believe I'd be able to help a child achieve their best and inspire them on a personal and academic level in their future endeavors. I believe I'd be a great tutor because I genuinely love kids, I'm patient, and I'm a good role model. I believe in taking a very positive approach when teaching and truly believe in praising a student's success because I know how important positivity and I actively practice praise because every accomplishment a child makes is a step in the right direction.
Tutoring Experience:
My tutoring/teaching experience is fairly limited as I've kept it fairly small scale with family members and been referred to family friend's children as well. However, I'm looking to expand this as I've thoroughly enjoyed it thus far and look forward to interacting with many more!
Tutoring Approach:
My style of teaching is one of positivity, I think positive affirmations are beneficial because in my experience motivating a child in a difficult subject gives them the necessary confidence to tackle on more challenging issues later on and in turn build up their skill set.
