Information About Nick
Port Coquitlam tutorPersonal Description:
I'm not a professional by any means. But what I can bring to the table is an understanding of the struggles that high schoolers go through in learning difficult concepts. In all my lessons, I strive to teach students concepts rather than formulas so they can carry these ideas with them into more advanced courses or spark their curiosity. I'm currently a high school student taking part time courses at University; although I may not be a full time professional tutor, I am somebody who is passionate and poised to help you improve.
Tutoring Experience:
I have tutored 10+ kids individually in the past 3 years in all high school subjects. At the end of our sessions, all of these students have reached their goal set in our first session, whether that be an A+ or just to improve a letter grade.
I have been teaching debate weekly for the past 2 years to a group of 30 students. Some of these students have ranked top regionally and even in the provincial circuit.
I coached my school's competitive math team to place 1st place regionally. Personally, I have ranked nationally and received distinctions in Waterloo math competitions.
Tutoring Approach:
In one word, my teaching methodology is very methodical. I like to get down to the basics in order to analyze what specifically you need to practice, whether that be a way of thinking, learning to recognize patterns, or simply test taking tips. In a typical session, you can expect us to go over some past mistakes to analyze where you went wrong and then diving into a lesson to practice explicitly what will help you improve.
