Personal Description:

Hi! I am 24 years old and I find myself on this website now because I believe I can make a difference in the education of elementary and high school students. I am passionate about educating and love my fields of study (History,English and computer science). I understand how difficult it can be in grade school, and how overwhelming it feels for both student and parent. In high school I was in the position that many students are in today, overwhelmed by the course loads, falling short in my efforts to live up to my potential . It was a struggle for both me and my parents, but in the end all it took was just a little guidance ( and patience) from someone who was able to help me not only pass… but understand; and better yet apply all that I learn in tangible ways as well as preparing me for later years in school.

Tutoring Experience:

I only have unpaid experience tutoring one kid in the 9th grade (academic level classes), I helped him raise his marks in English and World history from below 50% to above 90% within the semester. We worked for very long hours on end and I ensured that he truly understood the curriculum of the subjects as well as the key skills that he would need going forward in the later grades.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring all depends on the situation, some students learn differently than others but one universal rule for teaching is patience, not only for the teacher but for the student as well. A crucial step in educating is to first understand what makes the subject unique, what tools are neccessary to approach a subject. Every student learms differently and at different paces and I would adapt the way I teach based on their understanding of the curriculum and the subtleties that are foreshadowed in for later grades
