Personal Description:
I am a recent graduate from the University of British Columbia, having earned my Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry. I am passionate about helping others gain a better understanding of science so that they can apply it in their own lives and careers! I am currently working and volunteering while applying to medical school (feel free to ask me about the application process!). In my free time, I love to play basketball and hockey, and I also enjoy hiking!
Tutoring Experience:
I have one year of math tutoring experience with Kumon Learning, which I attended for 13 years as a child. In this role, I assisted elementary and high school students with math and reading assignments of varying levels, personalized my instruction style, provided individual feedback, and addressed long-term organizational and study habits.
I have 5+ years of informal peer tutoring experience throughout my high school and university years.
Tutoring Approach:
Having extensive experience working with children and adolescents in many capacities, I have developed excellent communication skills for helping peers and students understand even the most complicated concepts. I believe that my strength as a tutor is to simplify these ideas so that any student can understand. As a recent graduate having witnessed the struggles that students go through at every stage of their education (elementary, secondary, post-secondary), I have observed that the mastery of difficult ideas is promoted by their simplification, and that is what I am here to do.
