Personal Description:

Hi! My name is Natasha and I am an elementary teacher living in Campbell River, BC. I have been a teacher for 6 years, and just finished my Master's of Education degree, specializing in Language and Literacy Instruction for ages 6-13. My passion is getting students to love literacy- reading, writing and speaking/ listening. When students learn to love literacy, they can start to thrive in learning it. I aim to connect students to their learning by offering lots of choice, allowing them to follow their interests at the same time as learning new skills.

Tutoring Experience:

I have been a classroom teacher for 6 years. My first three years of teaching were overseas (Myanmar and Cambodia) which is where my love of teaching and helping students with literacy was first sparked. I helped to develop the schools literacy program and taught local teachers and students how to love literacy! I then moved back home to Canada where I taught grade 3/4 at a small nature independent school for two years, before moving to the North Island where I have been teaching K-3 Distance education. I just completed my Masters in Language and Literacy, and have learned so much about teaching and motivating students in this area.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is to ignite a passion for learning, and following students choices and interests. By giving students choice and connections in their learning, as well as providing structures to keep them motivated, students can thrive in anything they want to.
