Information About Mitchell
Kawartha Lakes tutorPersonal Description:
I am a recent graduate of Engineering Physics and Society from McMaster University and will soon be starting a Master's of Applied Science at the same school. Outside of school, I enjoy travelling, playing hockey and golf, and hiking.
Tutoring Experience:
At McMaster I worked as a Teaching Assistant for a number of courses in the Engineering Faculty including working as the Head Teaching Assistant for the first year programming course. The class I worked with was composed of students who had either previously failed or dropped the course, therefore I had to take different approaches to teaching than traditionally used by professors. Additionally, I worked as a Laboratory Supervisor for the first year Biomedical Engineering Design Studio, meaning I was responsible for assisting students with various aspects of designing 5 separate projects over the course of their first year.
Tutoring Approach:
I understand that everyone learns differently. It took me a long way to discover my own learning style, but my grades excelled when I figured it out. I believe that by helping students identify their learning methods and being able to explain complex concepts in simple terms I can help students succeed.
