Personal Description:

I tutor students in a variety of English topics, but my passion is in guiding students as they write college essays. I enjoy helping them with research, organization and study skills, and literature courses. I understand the academic skills students need to gain to be successful. My background in theater allows me to be creative as an English tutor.

Tutoring Experience:

I earned my bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts and Theater and went on to earn my master's degree in Theater History, Criticism, and Literature. I have 10 years of experience teaching high school and college classes. Some specific courses I can tutor students in include Comparative Literature, English grammar and syntax, and Expository Writing.

Tutoring Approach:

I understand that lectures may be necessary to give students the basic foundations of knowledge, but I believe they learn best when they are allowed to demonstrate critical thinking and I use active learning strategies to foster this. I encourage my students to consider the objectives of an assignment as well as how they will be evaluated.
