Personal Description:
Hi! I'm Michaela, and I'm a Chemical Engineer, an avid gardener, and a believer in lifelong learning. I have tutored for about 5 years in individual and group settings. My aim is to help students deepen their understanding through fundamental questions and exercises, folllowed by real-world applications.
Tutoring Experience:
Private Tutor: 2015 - Present
Tutor (TutorPro): 2016 - 2018
Grade 11 Chemistry Teacher (Queen Margaret's School): 2017 - 2018
Chemistry I Teaching Assistant (University of Victoria): 2016-2018
Tutoring Approach:
Today's classrooms (and our lives) are packed. I believe that spending additional time becoming comfortable with the fundamentals of chemistry promotes deeper understanding of current classroom topics and prepares students better for future learning. Focus, attention to detail, and developing student's recognition of the types of questions being asked of them are important for continued academic success. I would like to help students build confidence and ease into their learning by continually bringing real-world examples into play.
