Personal Description:
Hi! My name is teacher Melissa. I live in a white house with a big yard, in Parkview, Edmonton. I live here with my husband, our two boys, a cat named Izzy and a dog named Cooper.
I love kids and grew up teaching swimming for the Red Cross (all levels, from pre-school to adult beginner). I was also a camp counsellor at YoWoChAs. I speak English and French, and learned Spanish when I was a high school teacher in Mexico, for one year… I love languages.
Tutoring Experience:
I worked as a full time high school teacher in Monterrey, Mexico for one year, in 2000. I tutored pre-school children in French while living in Mexico, and I was also a high school math tutor during university.
I finished two science degrees at the University of Alberta - my Bachelor's in biological sciences with a linguistics minor, and a Master's degree in Health Promotion, from the School of Public Health. I was a Teaching Assistant (TA) for a 400-level university course in community nutrition one year, and worked at the U of A for 2 years after graduating from my MSc.
Tutoring Approach:
Learning should be fun. Let's break down any problem you're working on, and make it simple! We can figure things out together, so you won't be frustrated anymore.
