Personal Description:

Hello there! I am a recent graduate from the University of Alberta. I obtained my Bachelors of Science degree in Chemical engineering in 2018. Throughout my degree I have provided mentorship and tutoring to fellow classmates as well as younger students to help them achieve success in their studies.

Tutoring Experience:

I have been tutoring on and off since I was in high school. I rearly tutored my fellow classmates both in high school as well as in university. In recent years I began tutoring high school students in Chemistry, Math and Physics. Since I have been tutoring for over 6 years now, I have a good understanding of the current curriculum for math and science subjects in Alberta. I have as couple students who have come to me with marks in relatively low overall marks and I have been able to help them improve by 15% increase in a matter of 1 month.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is by first accessing the students capabilities and determining where there is a gap in knowledge/concepts. Once the gaps have been established I focus on proving the basics to the student so that the student can understand the fundamentals before solving the problems. I believe that once the student understands the basic concepts then student can apply it in various ways to come up with a solution. In this way, the student spends less time memorizing types of problems/questions and more on understanding how the fundamentals can be applied. I can also develop an action plan for the student in order to align with his/her grade expectation by evaluating the current marks and planning ahead on how to improve.
