Personal Description:
I love to teach. I take a gentle yet supportive and comprehensive approach to tutoring. Helping students overcome their fear of daunting and challenging subjects is my passion. I will arm you with the tools you need to stay calm and focused while growing your full educational potential. Attitude is half of the lesson when it comes to learning, and the skills themselves we will learn through new approaches and practice materials. I can provide you with perspective and appreciation for a range of subjects. Together, we can get you to look forward to going to class.
I work full-time as a lawyer but I miss my old tutoring, teaching assistant, and mentorship days. Tutoring is now my part-time passion, but I will make time for 1-2 students on an evening and weekend basis!

Tutoring Approach:
I quickly develop a rapport with my students and learn what interests and motivates them to learn. I use that understanding of their learning styles to develop my teaching approach specifically for each student. I have helped teach math to dyslexic students and students with learning disabilities. I have also helped adult students, one of whom had brain injuries/head trauma and needed help memorizing information for her university courses.
I first ask students to tell me what they know so far and to outline what part of the curriculum they have learned or struggled with. From there, I can understand whether there are gaps from previous grade curriculums and can design an approach that will help to fill in those gaps in a way that benefits students with learning the current grade curriculum. For students who improve quickly, I can naturally ease them into higher grade material without the stress or pressure of having to write tests on that high level material.
Lessons usually last one hour. I can go up to three hours if the student is concerned about an upcoming test or concept.
I can work off-book and beyond curriculum if requested (or if student is ready). I have helped students who are very behind and need to catch up quickly, as well as students who want to get ahead of their current curriculum. I make significant progress with students at all levels, including those with learning impairments. All my students improved at least 10% in the tutored subject areas.
Given the pandemic circumstances, I can hold lessons over Zoom. I can also teach in person if everyone is masked (preferably a library or campus setting).
Please be advised, I require e-transfers after each lesson.
