Personal Description:

I am a graduate from Humber College with a Bachelor of Commerce Degree in Accounting who is working towards becoming an Ontario Certified Teacher. I will be beginning my Bachelor of Professional Studies degree at Niagara University this fall in 2021. I plan on teaching accounting as my main subject and history as my secondary subject at high schools. I have 3 years of work experience in the accounting field and constantly using my knowledge obtained from the work place when tutoring accounting students.

Tutoring Experience:

I have 2 years tutoring accounting from grade 11 to 1st year university, 1 year tutoring English grade 11 and 12, and 1 year tutoring history. I have worked with Tutor Doctor in tutoring students one on one in their homes in English, accounting, and history. During my time at Learning Disabilities Association of Toronto District I helped students with homework in English and help provide them with study tips. I always ask students what their academic goals are, what they are struggling with so that I could develop a plan in helping them reach their academic goals. In both tutoring positions I would always update the parents on the students progress and offer constructive feedback to the students as well.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is making it as relatable as possible to their life or to real life situations so that it does not feel like homework or studying. When tutoring accounting I always reword the questions by adding some humor to them and will create questions catered to the students. I will explain how to answer questions while working it out with them so that I can see their thought process and can correct any areas that require improvement. I always encourage students to ask questions and to never be afraid of asking. I also ask students at the end of tutoring sessions if there is anything on my end I can do better for the next tutoring session so that they can feel more comfortable overall.
