Personal Description:
I am an Australian general dentist currently living and working in Toronto. I love teaching in my spare time - to help my students be the best they can be, to gain their confidence at school and to love what they do because they are good at it.
I have tutored while attaining my dental degree and also afterwards while working as a dentist. Seeing my students thrive and improve gives me great satisfaction and is extremely rewarding, hence why I tutor. I am friendly and approachable, and have great communication skills which I translate into teaching.
Tutoring Experience:
7 years - math, english, ESL, science, music theory/piano, Vietnamese
Tutoring Approach:
My approach to tutoring focuses on explaining the foundation and basics of the problem so they have a strong understanding of the concept. Once my students have a strong foundation, we'll go from the basics and build to more difficult levels.
Our first meeting, I will get to know my student to see how they learn best, for example: visual learner, audio listener etc. to cater to their best learning capacity and maximise our time together.
I usually follow the school syllabus and address where the student is having problems and work on that OR if the student wants to excel beyond their school syllabus, I can also cater to that and prepare them for higher levels.
